Puffy Easter Basket Sewing Pattern
Whew! I was determined to create this pattern before spring… finding pockets of time to squeeze it in with all the wedding prep that is happening around here.
One thing that immersing myself into planning and creating my daughter’s wedding has taught me is this… I dearly miss creating and writing patterns. What a boon! To have something to miss and look forward to!
This BASKET… the inspiration was created over 40 years ago by my mother. She made so many things for us - all with scraps and ingenuity. Her tenacity forever astounds me, especially has I age and my perception can hold more nuance.
The Original…
The basket she made me was white, with a navy ditsy floral pattern and a solid navy interior. I cannot find it for the life of me… Living in a renovation means there are boxes that are simply not accessible for the time being. My sister lent me hers to study and create a pattern from.
My mom’s version is simpler, however the way it was constructed would not have allowed for a ruffle trim… and a ruffle trim is pretty darling. So I went another route and that brings us here!
Introducing the Puffy Easter Basket!
The Puffy Easter Basket sewing pattern is like all the others I write…. with pictures and detail explanations of every step. Make it!!! You can do it!
The pattern is available for download in the ETSY shop or on the Website Shop!
The carrot, strawberries, and Bunny are also sewing patterns! Make it ALL!
After searching all over the city for wood eggs to paint, I finally ordered some from Amazon. Of course, I thought they would take only a couple of hours to paint… I am notorious for believing things take very little time… the eggs required much more attention.
The best part was my youngest joining me and painting her own! I was not sure she would be interested… she loves to draw, but finds painting a bore. We had the best time chatting and making mistakes and starting over - perfect activity for spring.
Once we were done and I was stylizing the photos, she joined me again and created her own! These are her set ups… She also selected the yellow floral fabric for her very own basket! I am holding on to the last of her childhood with all my heart!
